Lake Charles Senior Community Hosts Homelike Christmas for Residents

Senior living community Sage Oak of Lake Charles is taking Christmas a step further by making the holiday intimate and special for the residents at 9 a.m. on Dec. 25 inside the community. Sage Oak Lake Charles’ address is 5650 Weaver Rd, Lake Charles, LA 70605.

“The event will take place on Christmas morning, like it would at home,” says Georgina Graves, Director of Community Relations for Sage Oak Lake Charles. “Our caregivers will be waking up residents to the sound of Christmas music. We want the people who call our community home to have that cherished feeling of Christmas at home again.”

There will be a Christmas-themed breakfast and hot cocoa for the residents. Afterward, everyone will gather around the tree to open presents specially made or bought by community employees.

Each resident will receive five presents. The gifts are being given by Amedisys Hospice, Heart of Hospice, Harbor Hospice, and the Sage Oak team. Throughout the day, there will be holiday movies, music, food, and activities.

“With the size and layout of our community, and only having 16 people per care home, it is easier for us to provide this more intimate type of event for the residents,” adds Georgina. “I wanted to make sure that this day is still celebrated and exciting for them, especially if they are not able to go home for the holiday.”

This is a closed event for residents and media members only. Media members are welcome to visit the community and interview leadership members of Sage Oak Lake Charles as well as residents. Please be advised that upon visiting, COVID-19 safety protocols must be followed such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
